Opera Festival

May 28th, 2007 · by sarra · No Comments

The weekend before Link’s birthday, we went to Knoxville to visit Aunt Janice and Uncle Robin for the big Opera Festival. We drove up on Saturday morning. Link had breakfast in the car, and we stopped in Chattanooga at the Barnes and Noble for a break. We read a few books of Link’s choosing and headed back on the road. Granny and PopPop had gotten Link a Caillou video for the car, and it was a big hit. It definitely made the drive easier.

It started to pour just as we arrived. So we had lunch at Janice and Robin’s house and Link took a nap. After Link’s nap, it seemed to have cleared up, so we decided to brave the Opera Festival after all. Link had fun looking at the people, and listening to the music. There was one tent with belly dancers. Link clapped along with the music. He got a balloon from one of the vendors. He also had fun with the mosaic bear outside one of the banks.

After the festival, we went back to the house and had cupcakes for an early celebration (the first of many) of Link’s birthday. He opened presents and went to bed, exhausted.

Sunday we spent a nice morning playing with Legos and then after lunch, we drove home. Link took a nice long nap for most of the drive. We stopped at an outlet mall on the way home for our break. Daddy got some new work shirts and Link got to sit on the ride.

About an hour from home, traffic came to a standstill due to construction. This added close to an hour to our trip. Link was remarkably patient during the delay. I think the construction equipment helped. He finally lost it about 10 minutes from home. We got home just in time for dinner and bed.
