More Day Six - Segovia
The Alcazar
Walt Disney's Cinderella castle is based on this. Isabel I was coronated here in 1474. It was Ferdinand and Isabella's home. They're the folks that commissioned our boy Christopher C.
Again
Note the pointy spires. This was decidedly un-Spanish, but apparently all the rage in northern Europe at the time. Dutch architects designed the palace.
View of the countryside from the Castle
You can see a 13th Century Templar church in the middle of the shot, more on that later.
The Castle Moat
See the little door on the right side of the picture? The water line goes above it. That must not have been a nice place to be.
One of the many storks flying around that day

The Throne Room
Ceiling Detail in the Throne Room
Ceiling detail in the main hall.
Note the figures inset along the wall. These represent all the Spanish kings and queens.
